Pisa & Florence

Ok...you've seen it painted on deli walls around the country, you've seen plastic ones on top of cakes or in snowballs but seeing it in front of your nose will Blow You Away!  I'm talking about the infamous Leaning Tower of Pisa.

We took a private bus with the epitome of an Italian guy as our tour guide....he quickly informed us that Andrea was a man's name in Italy and he's not a girlie-girl.  En Route to the tower he spoke of the many ways they tried to fix the tower and the different architects who got a shot at it.  It bends like a "C" as they tried to correct it once it started leaning, but today, they have no interest in fixing it as of course it's a huge tourist attraction and lemme tell you there isn't much else in Pisa.  I gotta say seeing this was one of the highlights of the trip.  It feels like a million years ago I was there as I sit here and type this now and it was only a couple weeks ago.

We hopped back on the bus and headed for the big city of Florence.  My cousins and I were in anticipation of running into the Jersey Shore crew as they are here currently filming but we ended up seeing some other amazing sights.  Florence is an old city full of statues, churches and squares.  They are known for their leather good so I got a few belts and leather bound journals for keepsakes and gifts.  After a quick gelato, which are everywhere by the way, we hit the pavement aimlessly.  There were all these locks on these bars by the river and my cousin told me lovers go there and lock it up and throw the key into the river.  Romantic, huh?

I had more fun just roaming the streets and viewing the city....and then it happened.  It was like something out of a movie.  So this dude was trying to sell my auntie a purse and he was flirting with the girls and whatever and we were all laughing and I turned around to get on my way and accidentally bumped into this old Italian woman....complete accident.  She straight up took her purse off her shoulder and started smacking my arm with it yelling at me in Italian.  I was shocked frozen.  I felt so bad and tried to talk to her but she just kept moving after BEATING ME UP!  My mom and crew were dying with laughter and I could feel my face red with embarrassment as EVERYONE in Florence was staring at the blonde American chick who had done some little old granny wrong.  I felt so bad and thought I must had hurt her and my mind wandered and then I was like screw that, I barely bumped into her!  Oh well....my Mom thinks that she may have been trying to cause a diversion so others could pick-pocket but I think she was just trying to make me feel better.  I've been working out and game on next time Granny!  :)

After many hours we boarded the bus for our long ride back to the ship and everyone fell fast asleep except for me.  I enjoyed the views of rolling hills and vineyards.

Next up:  Roma
