I get many daily emails, lots of real estate news, PR buzz, newsletters and such but the one I always open is the one titled "Moment of Happiness". Sounds good right? Here was todays:
“Good manners are made up of petty sacrifices.”
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
So true isn't it? Yet, how many times do we fall short and skip manners? Just today on the bus someone sneezed and nobody said "Bless You". Even if you're from a different religious background would you be upset is someone said "Bless You"? I was just as guilty for staying quiet. Not cool Kerrie.
I love it when someone holds the door open for you; especially those times when they are clearly 10 feet ahead of you but you know they know you're coming and they still wait and hold it. Class!
How about when your love doesn't complain once about your radio station on the long drive. (I still scratch my head at those who don't see the talent in Jewel & Joni Mitchell).
There are tiny, itty-bitty "sacrifices" we can make to maintain good manners. Yes, you may not get the biggest piece of cake or the booth seat at the restaurant but your company may appreciate the fact that you've put them first.
If we could all remember to have good manners then wouldn't this world be just a little more lovely to walk through?
