Kerrie's Blog: Success in the Rain

Success in the Rain

Have you ever had one of those days where it all just came apart?  From morning to noon to night it feels like the world is against you.  They are few and far between but occasionally they do happen.

We are all learning as we go, aren't we?  I strongly believe you can turn a bad situation into a good one....or at least a better one.  If you look at the situation, disect it, and learn from it then you've done your due diligence in trying to do just that.  Don't forget to embrace the lesson for this is how you will be the celebrated being you are capable of.

Yesterday was then and today is now.....and today Rocks!

I encourage you all to push yourselves, get out of your comfort zone and see what you are capable of!  Check out this week's rockstars....I bet they've had bad days once in awhile too :)

If you have yet to write your own success story, I urge you to do so.  Simply go to your profile page and click "edit" located next to My Profile (edit). Scroll down until you see the spot designated for your ActiveRain Success Story.  Keep in mind this will not show on your AR profile but will be available to view on the ActiveRain Success Stories link located on our home page.  Not only are all the cool kids doing it but you'll be awarded 500 points!!!

Larry Johnston (Elkhart County Subdivisions, LLC): Real Estate Agent in Elkhart, IN Larry Johnston (Elkhart County Subdivisions, LLC)
"The proof that Active Rain is a great tool is shown in a phone call I received the other day. It was a lady from another state that has her house paid for and wants to move into my area and pay cash for a new house. I not only was given the opportunity of selling her a house, but also getting a referral on selling her house. I asked her how she found me and she said she found my active rain profile on the internet. Thank you Active Rain!!!"

Steve Combs (Academy Mortgage Corp): Loan Officer in California, MD Steve Combs (Academy Mortgage)
"ActiveRain Success Story? Let me count the ways... 1) My regular Webinar attendance is up 125% 2) Out of state home owners have contacted me for refinance of multiple investment properties. 3) I have forged terrific new professional relationships. 4) I have strengthened existing professional relationships. 5) My ActiveRain profile page is on page 1 of Google when you search for me. 6) Past Clients (while I was at a former company) have found and contacted me on ActiveRain. 7) I've been able to assist my Realtor partners by promoting the "real" affordability of their listings. 8) Through my blog, I have a platform to provide insight and helpful information to my colleagues and prospective clients. 9) I've learned about the needs and circumstances of my referral sources through their blogs and have adapted my business to support those needs. 10) I have made more money already from ActiveRain!"

"I am not a technical type person. I did not understand anything about technology and I am still learning about the computer. My broker is always encouraging us to get on the cutting edge. He believes in Active Rain and so I thought I would start there. It turned out that was the best decision I could have made. When I got stuck I made one call and not only did I get all my questions answer, but they pointed me to Active Rain University. Steven Graham, the trainer was able to explain everything on my level. He promise us all if we did what he was going to show us we would be on the first page of Google by the next day. The next day, we were on the front page. Thank you Steven!"

Joseph Houghton (Real Living, Main Street Realty): Real Estate Sales Person in Minneapolis, MN Joseph Houghton (Main Street Realty)
"I have found active rain to be an extremely effective way to dialogue with people around the community and throughout the country about the residential real estate market. It has been a great way to get other peoples opinions and advice as well as help other people answer their questions and deal with their real estate concerns."

Danielle "Dee" Baldwin (Fort Collins Realtor @ ERA Herman Group Real Estate): Real Estate Agent in Fort Collins, CO Danielle "Dee" Baldwin (Infinity Group Realty)
"ActiveRain has been a fantastic resource for me as I grow my business. I have had a wonderful referral from an agent here on ActiveRain and enjoyed referring out to an agent who I came to trust based on her contributions to AR. I'm confident that I will be able to expand on this section for many years to come!"

Hi Kerrie -- It's great to see how even non-techie types can prosper on AR! What a POWERFUL statement and one that I think needs to be emphasized to new members or even prospective members.  I bet it would encourage more people willing to give this platform a try.

Everyday above ground is a good day...Somedays I have to repeat this over and over to myself, because some days are harder than others.

I have not had a "success" story yet, but I'm sure I'll get one soon.  I am going to Rain Camp in Atlanta to learn how to do it in the Rain, so my success story is on the way.

Thanks for the inspiration, and the chance for 500 points.

Yes, we all have one of those days. I had one today. I called a Listing Agent on a rental property and asked as many questions as I could before I showed it.

I spent my time showing it and I spent a good amount of time preparing the Lease for Presentation. I presented the Lease and an hour after it was accepted I got a call from the Listing Agecny, very sheepishly that the Seller has decided not to Lease the property.

Now, in my primary MLS if you present a full price contract that meets all the criteria specified and you present all proper documentation and the Landlord or Seller does not accept it, this could be a violation of Discrimination.

However, who has time for this stuff! Lift yourself up and move on. Yes, I was caused to waste my precious time, however Real Estate is a lot of time expended for the results we get. The name of the business.

The Landlord has suddenly determined that he can't make ends meet if he rents this property. The property was listed for a long time (unusual for rentals) and yesterday and the day before and the month before he knew he could not make ends meet.

The Listing Agent was embarrased. I was miffed! However. do I want to take the time it takes to make an issue of this? I'm movin' on! Just another example of the stress level people are under today.

However, in closing I will be watching that listing closely. If it is not removed within a few days or lo and behold if it appears "settled" at that price, the hammer will fall!

All of you with aggravation, have a wonderful day.

Kerrie - I have a suggestion/request that I think would benefit many of us here in the Rain. There are so many different contests going on and often many of us hear of them when they are about to end. How about a special button on the top of the page (next to search and RainCamp) that says 'contests'? that would make it so much easier to stay on top of these.
