Win a Ticket to RainCamp Online and Fight Hunger

ActiveRain has started a food drive here at Headquarters. Pretty soon the boxes will be overflowing with food for the needy.  Northwest Harvest is a local charity here in Seattle; just Google "food drive in (city)" to find one in yours.

RainCamp is Wednesday, December 14th and we want to give away some tickets.  If you start a Food Drive in your office or community please post a picture of your donation spot like in the picture below on our Facebook page.  5 lucky winners will be graced with a free seat at RainCamp Online!

Help fight hunger and learn how to make 2012 your best year yet!

That is a great way to give back to the community.

We've been collecting for Martha's Mission here in Carteret County for as long as I can remember.  This is a fabulous way to help out the folks in your community.... in every community!  Kudos to all you guys at Activerain, I'm so proud to be a part of this Fine Community!  I just wish I could make Raincamp on the 14th :0(

Next time for sure, and if anything changes, I'll be the first to beg for a seat!

We just did a food drive in our KWoffice and had enough food for 7 baskets!  We gave half at Thanksgiving and the other half are going to the families that we "adopted" for Christmas.  We obtained wish lists from the children in these families and bought them the gifts they wanted.  Will be delivered next week.  These are children of local servicemen/women.

We are giving to the Heart Assocation at our Christmas office open house - does that count?  :)   And we did a Turkey Food Drive at Thanksgiving. . . thanks for keeping us active in the community.

Kerrie - This is a great idea and a wonderful way to give back this time of year especially in the current economic climate.

Kerrie - How awesome!!!  We have decided that rather than sending Christmas cards to our family, friends and clients (think several HUNDRED cards) thereby supporting Hallmark and the failing USPS - we are going to make a donation to a local Charity and support a needy family instead.  So far, as we've told clients not to expect a card in the mail they have been totally supportive!

Dear Kerrie -

ATLANTA COMMUNITY FOOD BANK will be the recipient of the canned food collected at our Atlanta Meet-up before RainCamp. We are getting together Monday night December 12th - we'll have an ActiveRain donation for the ATLANTA FOOD BANK Christmas food distributions ready before RainCamp!

We're looking forward to the ATLANTA METRO ActiveRain Meet-Up on December 12th from 4 to 7 pm at Gordon Biersch/Buckhead in Atlanta, GA and excited about the the Raincamp on Wednesday, December 14th!

Have a happy day -

Our office in Castro Valley has several Food Bank barrels full of canned goods waiting for pickup. I don’t have a photo but that will not diminish the tastiness of the donated food for the recipients. I won’t win a ticket to Raincamp but I will feel good for my part in filling the barrels.

Kerrie, a great way to support the local community. Today I'm going to a meeting where everyone will bring a toy to support Toys-For-Tots.

A very worthwhile cause and you have helped to inspire many of us to do something extra for our community.

Kerrie - what a super idea.  Our office sponsored a food drive in conjuction with a Coldwell Bankerr Open House Extravaganza one Sunday in October and then again in November.  We collected donations from those attending the open house plus our own for the local People to People organization that distrubutes food and gifts to those in need.  Its a great way to pay it forward!

Hi Kerrie

Great Idea!    Our little company paid for 50 boxes of goodies to be shipped to soldiers serving abroad. The year before, we proveded meals for homeless Veterans. It is a wonderful way of giving back! I love this idea!

Erica - Yes, please just post a pic of your food drive spot; box, corner or wagon!  :)

Hi Kerrie. We already do something similar for a homeless project in the Clearwater area. It is year round. Not just for Christmas. I already signed up for the Rain Camp though... this is a great idea. It encourages people to care....

Hey Kerrie. Out here in Philly, Pa. a local radio station WMMR does "Campout for Hunger" that has amazing results and community support.

I was stationed out in Seattle awhile back and miss Mt. Rainier and hope someday to make a rain camp. Great site and glad ya'll are socially cognoscente at the same time. - Patrick Cashman

Hi, Kerry.  So sorry that I am unable to attend the online raincamp.  Hopefully, I can participate in the next one.  We are doing some local food drives here, too.  It is so necessary, isn't it?

This is a fun idea. I work mostly from home, so I dont have a location to collect. However, I should have started one somewhere local. Next time for sure.

Kerri:

My office is one of the local donation points for our local Food Bank.  At my open houses during December I have a basket for people to drop their nonperishable food donations.  Unfortunately, I won't be attending Rain Camp, I have a prior commitment, but I will post on facebook anyway.

I only have a home office and that's not effective for food drop offs. I did post some local food banks that we utilize.

Kerrie - Good luck with this! It is fantastic!!!

I have 'adopted' kids through the Salvation Army's Adopt An Angel campaign.......you can do it online, choose the age and gender of the child and then purchase clothing and toys, send it to the Salvation Army location where that child actually lives with the identification number for that child and the local branch will deliver the gifts.

In addition to that, JCPenney is not charging shipping charges on these packages and they have some fantastic coat sales right now that guarantee the kids will be warm during the winter months!

This is indeed what the Holiday Spirit is all about! Good luck with your food drive!
