Kerrie's Blog: Top Traffic "Pins"

Top Traffic "Pins"

Pinterest is a variety of pinboards that host all the cool things you see on the web and want to get back to one day.  Recipes, fashion, inspirational quotes, travel and a million other things keep us glued to their site.

Nikesh wrote a great post on the increase of traffic to ActiveRain from Pinterest.  Members are starting to "pin" their blog posts from AR onto Pinterest.  What we're finding is that many of your followers are stumbling upon these and coming to your ActiveRain blog posts to read more.

As a blogger, you will benefit from pinning for a variety of reasons; drive traffic to your blog, network with others via vertical marketing, endorse your products and get inspiration for future topics.

ActiveRain has its very own pinboard full of everything from recipes to quotes to sandy beaches and homes for sale.  Once you're there, click on the photo and it will take you to the owner's pin and then click on it again and it takes your to their blog post on AR.  Pictures get the inquiries and by taking a moment to "pin" your content just might get you in front of the right eyes.  It only takes a moment to do and may be worth the effort.

Here are the top pins from a few 'Rainers:

Chris Smith pinned AR's Recovery or Not Infographic

Jenny pinned a before picture of a living room

Christine M pinned a lovely home showcasing the exterior paint

Soror Peregrina pinned a photo you must check out

If you're not on Pinterest yet and want to get on, let me know and I'll send you a request.  If you are and haven't added your Pin It shortcut to your bookmark page, check out how to do so.

They have an app for your phone so it's a great tool to pass the time while you're waiting for an appointment or maybe say, on a long bus ride.  Pinterest is where it's at, check it out it's so very cool!

*As with any site you want to make sure you are adhering to all their terms and conditions.  Many of our members have written fantastic posts about copyright issues and other dangers so just make sure you're not violating any guidelines.

Hmmmm... is there any way you can "pin" a photo of a really nice, yummy-looking catfish?  I had blackened catfish for lunch yesterday, and wow... it was dee-licious.

By the way... didn't Blue Oyster Cult have a smash hit called Don't Fear the Catfish?

Hi Kerrie - I am starting to research Pinterest as I am starting to read about many positive benefits.

Posted by FN LN over 7 years ago

Hi Kerrie, I just signed up a week ago, started pinning, freaked out because of the copyright discussions, breathing easier now.. will mostly pin from AR blogs. I pinned a picture from one of my blogs earlier today .. it was repinned 65 times today, it was also pinned twice directly from my blog which was repinned again 18 times! And I got about 60 clicks on that blog! I'm a believer now!!

Oh, and the coolest thing is all that extra exposure I'm giving the local business I blogged about.

Thx Kerrie.  I so need to dedicate some time to figuring out Pinterest.  I am clueless.  Maybe you gys can do a webinar on "How to use Pinterest to drive more traffic to your AR blog."

Posted by Debbie Gartner, The Flooring Girl & Blog Stylist -Dynamo Marketers (The Flooring Girl) over 7 years ago

Andrea - That's incredible!  Huge traffic you would have not otherwise received.  Get it girl!

Debbie - We are talking about such a thing now.  Stay tuned!

I guess I just don't get the whole Pinterest obsession. I post photos etc. that I want to share on facebook or in my blog. Another social media site just sounds like too much additional work.

Okeydokey, Kerrie! I'm not on it yet, so please send me a request. Sounds interesting, like a new toy! :)

I deleted all of my Pinterest boards because of the legal ramifications of copyright violation.  I am still researching this.

Hi Kerrie, thanks for showing some pins that are working. But it is so confusing knowing what to do with all the recent posts about Pinterest copyright issues, and that you may be left holding the bag.

Hi Kerrie,

I headed over to the Pinboard fro Active Rain.  I look forward to perusing through it.  I'm still not 100% about how to use it, but I'm getting there.

Kerrie - Can't we just "say no" to more social media?  I think I hit the walll with Google+ and now FaceBook is making me edit my pages.  Arrgghh!

Not involved yet. I didn't see the connection between it and AR . Hey I just scored 20 Spam Pts. from your responses !

Kerrie -- I still have not looked into Pinterest yet. Signed up for a webinar, but then had to miss due to a last minute appt. I never even thought about the pinning from AR. I hope you guys have a webinar on this. Sounds like another thing we need to do!

Kerrie, I so get Pinterest!~ How great to see that ActiveRain is benefiting from this very exciting and fun new site!

Gail, Pinterest is the easiest place you can be - consider it 'down time' because it's just like looking through a magazine and clipping your favorite pieces :)

Can you please clarify the copyright issues .

Posted by Joan Whitebook, Consumer Focused Real Estate Services (BHG The Masiello Group) over 7 years ago

I deleted my Pinterest account. Perhaps after a lawsuit or two and they hash out whether or not it is copyright violations, then I will get back on.

Great ideas to link our blogs....hmmmm  another board!   LOL   Thinking I need a "business only" board!

Posted by Deborah Byron Leffler BzyBee Real Estate Lady! (Keller Williams Realty Boise) over 7 years ago

I'm soooo confused about this Pinterest. I have an account setup but I haven't done anything yet. Like Joni states, there seems to be some major confusion about copyright laws, and having no idea how it works I'm not sure what the heck to do.

Have an AWESOME day!

Posted by Michael S. Bolton, MN Appraiser (Michael S. Bolton,Inc.) over 7 years ago

Hi Kerrie--I have a Pinterest account and have been reading more and more about it daily--pros and cons.  Have to go check out the AR board, though, as it sounds very interesting.

When Pinterest came on the scene I was already on social media overload.  At this point, I'm focusing on mastering my current social media outlets.  Otherwise, I'm just a serial joiner.  At some point, I'm sure I'll be asking for that request to join.

Pinterest on my phone is so gorgeous. I like looking at Pinterest on a huge computer screen or my itty bitty phone. On my laptop it is not as striking....  I do not think I put the mobile version on my Kindle Fire... I think the mobile version would make PIPinterest look prettier there.

By posting a photo on ActiveRain are we giving permission for it to be pinned?  A photo being pinned makes the photo embeddable on anyone's blog or website. Kiss goodbye any and all of your photos?

Posted by Maureen McCabe, Columbus Ohio Real Estate (HER Realtors) over 7 years ago

I just requested an invitation.  There may be a photo or two I could pin up there.

By the way, my mother was a Navy pin up during WWII (in a one-piece bathing suit).  She appeared on many a wall on many a boat.

No kidding...

I have been pinning photos from my blog posts with a link back to my web site. Not sure how well that's working for me on real estate listings, but a lot of people are re-pinning images from my hyper-local posts. Glad to see you writing about this - I'll go follow AR now!

I pinned a few things but nothing that has gained that much interest.  I put on a couple of my listings but what really got people going was photos of Australia - go figure!

I may need to wait ... furthermore, I, too, heard about the copyrights and all  ...  so until I hear more, I may just have to wait ... and put my energies here on Active Rain ....

Thanks for the post and I look forward to hearing (and reading) more responses ... HERE.

Every real estate professional should have a Pinterest presence.  All need to be very careful to avoid copyright violations.

Hopefully, we will see lots of ideas on the effective use on Pinterest in ActiveRain posts.

Posted by Roy Kelley (Realty Group Referrals) over 7 years ago

Marianne - I just sent you an invite if you do want to get on there.  As Roy said, all real estate professionals should have one.  We're seeing it as a growing Community paired with increased traffic to your posts.
