Kerrie's Blog: May Success Be With You

May Success Be With You

Oh Friday, how I love thee!  You romance me from the morning light, keep me motivated throughout the day with thoughts of the weekend and I'd just like to kiss you right now!  Anybody ever just need a weekend? unplug and relax?  Very hard for most of you to do but this weekend I shall conquer such a task!  I highly recommend you try to do it too.  Unplug the tv, crank up some Beastie Boys (RIP Adam Yauch) and dance your heart out!!!  :)  Ok, back to reality...Friday work day isn't quite over yet...

This week we launched our very first Boot Camp series.  With over 350 energetic members in attendance it's proved to be a valuable tool for newbies as well as seasoned members.  Bob's taking us on an 8-week course where each stop is dishing out valuable lessons in everything ActiveRain, blogging, SEO and so much more.  Not only are we providing the education but we have different private groups set up for each "team" to get the support they need.  Thank you to everyone who is making this Boot Camp series possible!  If you'd like to sign up, please do so using the Boot Camp link.

Our hightest blogging day had you guys pumping out 4,210 new blog entries in one day and the highest comment day was 4,706.  Not too shabby my peeps, not too shabby.  Cathy Bureau had the most pageviews and comments last week with Why Do Realtors® Make Such High Commission?  A hot topic amongst you all, highlighted in the Daily Drop and a well written quality content post so congrats to Cathy!

A couple of fun contests ended but with every ending there is a new beginning so be sure to check out May's contests and get involved.

Lots of work on AR's backend is in progress so we thank our IT team for putting in the long hours.  Look for a post early next week that will explain some of the changes you'll soon see on AR which will help load time, ranking and other benefits.

I'm very proud of you guys as you share your triumphs with us this week and continue to crank out those posts and comments.  Now get out there and DANCE!!

Is that you dancing in the rain? I wish that I had time to participate in all of the wonderful things going on here. But maybe being busy is a good thing, too.

I missed your first session.  That darn thing called BUSINESS got in the way.  I did 3 buyers, 2 sales, and 5 listings all on the same day.  I am gonna be doing listings all day tomorrow just to catch up.

I am looking forward to a good weekend with a combination of work and play.

Cinco de Mayo will be celebrated at the birthday party of my cousin on Saturday. She is turning 60.

On Sunday, my Lions Club is staging a pancake breakfast. I will be working there.

Other times, I have final walk through planned with buyers; phone calls to make, and plenty of computer time – including Active Rain.

And, thanks for all you do, Kerrie, to make our Active Rain experience excellent.

It's been busy off-late and being a single agent, I do try to do justice to my time on AR - by reading and commenting on some posts - but when it comes to writing a fresh material, I have just slowed down - or I should say, stopped, almost.

Hope to get an assistant soon - no, not to write the blogs, but to give me some break...and then, I'd say, Oh, Friday....

Kerrie - Yes, there have been times when I REALLY just needed a long weekend.  In the days moving up to the millennium New Year of 2000, I was working at a software develoment company.  We were of course having some concerns about a potential Y2K problem, if you remember the event.

By the time that 4 day holiday weekend arrived, I was exhausted.  I didn't want to go anywhere or do much of anything.  Instead, I filled my refrigerator with a lobster tail, and some of my other favorite foods.  I had a half dozen old movies from Blockbuster, a pile of wood at my back door, while I prayed for rain.

When the time actually came, I didn't move from my couch much for the entire 4 days.  I just ate, curled in an old quilt, and watched the fire in the fireplace, and the movies classics with Kathryn Hepburn, Burt Lancaster, Bette Davis.

Restoration is a wonderful thing.

Kerrie - I am taking a few days off for the first time in a while.  I am in AZ visiting my daughter and 5 year old granddaughter.  We are having a blast but it's a lot harder keeping up with a 5 year old now than it was all those years ago when I was raising her mother.   Have a great weekend.

Kerrie, regarding the changes, I do appreciate the shorter load times we have by everyone's blog page only having the latest post appearing (and without comments). However, I'm looking forward to reading the upcoming announcement regarding the changes to find out:

  1. If we go back and change our old blog posts to have <70 characters in the title, will previous links that were created for the "old blog post" still work for the "new blog post"? Or do we have to go back and change all of our links, too? What about shortened URLs, will they still work?
  2. Regarding pre-selected subjects within AR Channels, will there be a blog post explaining specifically which types of blog posts should fall within each subject? My issue is that in the "Real Estate Market" channel, there are several different subjects that seem to be similar...and therefore a little confusing as to which one to choose - Market Trends, Market Statistics, Home Values or Real Estate Market Reports?
Love your umbrella pic! :)

Another in a long line of reasons why AR is the place to be.

Posted by Daniel J. Brudnok, REALTOR, SRES, e-PRO,ABR,GREEN,CSP (Berkshire Hathaway Home Services Fox & Roach, REALTORS - Exton - PA License #RS-225179-L / Delaware License #RS-0025038) almost 7 years ago

Leilani - You don't have to change your old links, this is more of a "going-forward" type of thing.  If you do change them, the previous links will still work as well as the shortened urls.  The Channels are up to your discretion just as they were before.  We narrowed the list down because having 600K+ wasn't helping AR in any way.  Find which ones work for you and if a certain Channel gets you more clicks/views than others.  Totally up to you my dear.

Hey, missy~I know this was awhile back, but EVERY FRIDAY is to be celebrated if it means time OFF. I wrote a post recently about finding the wilderness and unplugging, something that everyone from Jesus to Thoreau did--maybe not with a laptop, but you get my drift!
