Kerrie's Blog: Let Them Eat Cake!

Let Them Eat Cake!

Let me eat some cake!!

Well May 4th is fast approaching, if anyone calls me Bridezilla I will automatically cut 5,000 points from your profile....oh stop, you know I'd never do such a thing!!

Weekends have been full of dress fittings, flower shopping, linen choices, updating RSVPs as they come in, figuring out hotels for out of town guests, vow writing (eeks, I'm going to be a MESS) but last night....last night was cake testing.

Mmmmm, mmmm, mmmm....I don't cook or bake so I am overly appreciative of the art of a baker.  The flavors, colors, designs and ideas are like a foreign language to me.  But let me tell you...when you taste that amazing deliciousness on your palette, we all speak the same language.  Big eyes, big smile and the subtle mmmmmm.

The dark chocolate was rich and heavy and I kept going back for more; definitely a favorite. But we wanted a white center so we decided on the butter cream. Our wedding color is a royal purple so our cake will be a very simple white tiered cake with an ombre of purples cascading down in a ribbon.  A bit hard to explain but I promise to post pictures one day.

A lot of work goes into planning a wedding and I'd be lost without the help of family and friends.  Some of the items on the to do list aren't that much fun but last night's cake tasting was a blast!

Kerrie,

I hope you brought a little taste of the wedding cake home for Henry. He is going to be the ring bearer...right?

From my perspective the cake can make or break the wedding. The oohs and ahs are really for the cake even though the guests will smile and say you look beautiful and they have never seen a more gorgeous bride. It's all about the cake. LOL Don't disappoint them girl either way.

Kerrie,

The cake tasting would be one of my favorites on the "To Do" List too :)

Enjoy all your wedding preparations -- looking forward to seeing the pictures!

P.S.  My thanks to BLiz for the definition of Ombre.  Guys aren't the only ones who didn't know what that meant :)

Kerrie, I can just tell from the love in your "voice" in the post how brimming with love your heart must be.  I am so thrilled for you and Lani... I really am.  I would love to see a gazillion pictures of these different steps you two are taking... and I can't wait to see the two of you in your wedding finery.

I love it that you are sharing all these things with us.  At least for me, it makes me feel like I truly AM sharing your joy with you.  Thank you for that.  Gentle Huggs to you both.

Somebody convinced us to save the top tier of our cake and freeze it for our first anniversary. We did just that. It didn't taste quite the same.

May 4th still leaves you time to change your mind. If you want to escape the madness and skip straight to the honeymoon, I have friends in Grand Cayman that can hide you away from the insanity.

Hi Kerrie, I thought of this great ides. In addition to the 3 tier cake, have AR buy the worlds largest sheet cake ( publicity for days) and then send all the members a slice. My mouth is already watering. I am so happy that you found true love and you are going to be one beautiful bride.

Kerrie, you would think that when you get to the cake tasting portion of your plans you're home free.  If I were to do it over again I would have made this a 3 day event.  A lifetime of best wishes are sent your way!

Funny, ion the middle of a take it off contest you have to try cake samples.  Like tasting wine, chew and spit

Wedding planning can be stressful but in the end everything will turn out great and you will have so much fun. It goes by so quickly so enjoy it! If you preserve your cake properly it will be good a year later. The military trasnferred us two months after we got married so we had to move our cake half way across the country and it was still delicious a year later! We also had an awesome baker do our cake so maybe that helped :-)
