Throwback Thursdays - Cabbage Patch Kids

CPK's were THE thing back in the 80's.  My Nanny (Grandmother) bought me mine.  That's me and Jolene on the right.  I think she's somewhere up in my parent's attic.  I'm talking about Jolene, not my Nanny :)

My son gave his Cabbage Patch Doll (Eddie) to his son, (20 months old) who loves having his picture taken with him. Those dolls were hard to get in the day!

I was too old for them and my kids were too young so I've never actually owned or even seen one!  But were they ever popular.

I'm old enough to remember the Cabbage Patch Frenzy where secret shipments were being delivered to odd locations in the middle of the night and shoppers were beating each other up in stores in order to get the last one.

My mom has my siblings and my CPK's in her attic...it would be fun to pull those down sometime!

This brings back a memory or two. CPK then, American Girl dolls now - only the dollars have changed!

Ah, the memories of CPKs.  Our first Granddaughter was born the year American Girl became popular and we are addicted, but as Lottie says, the $$$$'s have changed!

I remember when they were so popular and could not find them in the stores.  Then people started making them at home.

Those dolls had birth certs and were sold as adopted kids, who knew?

I remember those dolls.  Especially, the Christmas they became the rage, and I had to beat the bushes because one of my kids had asked Santa for one.  They were funny cute dolls, that came in a variety of personalities and appearances.  Loved 'em!

Kerrie, never quite understood the grandkids fascination with these dolls, however, to them they were very special. All one had to do was look at their happy faces as they played with them. Amazing. At least that was the way I looked at the children and the dolls. But that photo of you and your CP Doll is a treasure.

Hi Kerrie,

I adored the Cabbage Patch Kids dolls and bought 3 or 4 of them after chasing them down and getting on lists. They were so cute and I loved the birth certificates.

LOL, Kerrie.  I remember my sister in law standing in line for HOURS to get one for my niece.  What a fad.  You need to go find Jolene, LOL.

So, you've always been a flaxen haired beauty?  Thankfully I missed the Cabbage Patch craze but you surely do have a cute photo there.
