Wordless Wednesday - Rattlesnake Ledge

On Sunday, Lelani, Jeffrey, myself and of course Henry took advantage of a beautiful Washington day and hiked to the top of Rattlesnake Ledge.

Kerrie, now that looks like fun!  And yes, that lake looks like it is worth checking out after your climb.

Why, Carrie you Washingtonians are very original when it comes to naming landmarks!!!  (but definitely a step ahead of us Hoosiers!!!!!)

That's the incredible thing about our state, you can get the most out of the state when you get out and enjoy it...

Kerrie, Looks like a great place to hike and pretty landscape to view while hiking. Weather looked really nice as it is nasty here right now with heat and humidity.

Kerrie, you did say you hiked up to the top of Rattlesnake Ledge? You coud have fooled me; can not see anyone out of breath. On the contrary, very relaxed and peaceful. Looks like you were totally enjoying your day. The view is special.

Kerrie, it's moments and places like that when I can easily be brought to tears of joy and gratitude for oh so many blessings.  It just takes my breath away when I am standing in "creation" like that!

I think the name rattlesnake ledge would keep me from going on this hike.  However, I can see why you did -- it is beautiful.

Hi Kerrie.  That is some kind of view.  Are there rattlesnakes there?

Posted by Conrad Allen, Webster, Ma, Realtor (Re/Max Professional Associates) over 4 years ago

Kerrie, There's got to be a story behind the name. I hope you can tell us.

BTW I almost missed this because I used up all my allocated AR time on

reading the comments on the Trulia/Zillow merger or acquisition, whichever

it is.

Joan Whitebook I am with you girl.  I am deathly afraid of those things, see I can't even type it, but I was assured this hike was only named after them.

Posted by Kerrie La Guardia, Let it Rain! (ActiveRain, Community Manager) over 4 years ago

Bill Roberts I found this online:

"The lake and nearby ridge are said to have gotten their inapt name from Seattle pioneer Arthur Denny when the rattle of seed pods on a nearby meadow frightened a road surveyor into thinking he was being attacked by a rattler. The surveyor didn't know there were no poisonous snakes in Western Washington."

The name alone is enough to discourage me. But the view is awesome. Glad you enjoyed your hike.

Hi Kerrie,

You look so young in that photo. Area is beautfiul and hate to think about a lot of rattlesnakes slithering around.
