Kerrie's Blog: Pinterest, it's Not Just for Recipes...

Pinterest, it's Not Just for Recipes...

I was shocked, yes shocked to see that our 2nd highest social referral platform behind Facebook was Pinterest.  Not Twitter but Pinterest!?!?

This should be a big eye-opener for us all.  You are doing an injustice to your posts and social sharing if you're excluding Pinterest from the mix.  Thousands upon thousands of people are finding your posts via Pinterest.

Do you know how easy it is to pin your blog posts?  Use the social sharing buttons at the top of your post or download the Pin It button.  Hashtags are a good idea to use too.  Rain gave us some good tips on how to do this effectively.

Don't have a Pinterest profile yet?  Start one today, create a few boards and start pinning away.   You can invite others to post on them as well; if you're part of a real estate team, this is a perfect option for you.

Pinterest Board Ideas:

Homes for Sale
Staging Tips
Home Inspection
Mortgage Advice
Homes under $500K
Condo-Living
Neighborhoods
Home Tips

Curb Appeal Tips
Seller Tips

Local Amenities

If you're already doing this, leave a link to your Pinterest page in the comments so others can get inspired and follow you too.

Kerrie,  thanks for this information as I have never considered using Pinterest, but now after reading your post I will have to give it a serious look!

Kerrie, Pinterest has brought us AT LEAST one buyer and completed sale directly from Pinterest.  There may be others that have looked at our community boards and used them to be led over to our WP searches.  We've gotten a decent number of followers for our Patio Home board.  And all this without putting a whole lot of effort into the site.

Good evening Kerrie. I never thought of using Pinterest for home inspections.

Hi Kerrie - I know that's good advice and Pinterest has been somewhere on my to-do list for a long time. Maybe this year, once I finish rebuilding my website. Maybe.

Kerrie it's been on my list too and I finally signed up and promptly did nothing as it's double time busy right now. I am looking forward to getting into it soon, I hope!

Yes,  I've found a few of my picts pinned from here/repinned (and have done some myself).  Pinterest does tend to generate a lot of referral traffic, but often the bounce rate is high and time on site low.  I do use it though.

This one (from the same 2014 trend post) has 445 repins.  Both come up high on their searches.  I wish I had been the one to pin these.

It works like a charm, especially when real estate and "other interest" boards are co-mingled, yet so many RE pros are not using it as part of their online marketing plan. Here is mine: Warner Robins GA - Pinterest

Excellent post, Kerrie La Guardia ... and excellent advice.  I just read a post stating the same facts just yesterday.  Add on top of this ... Pinterest is going to be expanding its ability to place advertisements .. even expanding on its abilities to market services and businesses.  The good news is ... it serves a great purpose and is fun too!

It's not as easy as you describe.  If we use the Pinterest button on our blog posts, ActiveRain gets credit for the Pin,  not us individually.  Unless something has changed....I haven't pinned anything in a while.  I was having to use my Wordpress blog to Pin in order to get it labeled Sharon Tara.

Sharon Tara  , it's AR's platform yes as you are using it to blog but they're coming straight back to your post.  Your name, your links, your picture, your phone number...
