Kerrie's Blog: Throwback Thursdays - Me, Mom & Tulips

Throwback Thursdays - Me, Mom & Tulips

With the first day of spring tomorrow, the tulips have begun to pop up in some yards and businesses,  I've mostly noticed daffodils but there are a few tulips out there too.  Each year Mount Vernon has an amazing tulip festival, I believe it's one of the top 10 in the world.  Just about 40 mins north of Seattle, the colorful fields are quite the sight!

Here's a pic of me and my amazing Mom about 4 years ago.  We've had a warm winter so I'm expecting the festival to kick off a bit earlier this year.

Kerrie, nice picture of Mom and you and the Tulips are nice too.

Kerrie, Love the looks of tulips but our one try and growing them didn't work out well.  I believe the gophers/moles/shrews really enjoyed the dinner we served them!  50 bulbs one year, 0 the next!

Great picture Kerrie, all those tulips look amazing.  I've never seen a field of flowers like that

How beautiful.  Maybe if the snow ever melts here I will once again see tulips!  Not like that though!

A great stroll down memory lane.  We need to keep these and make as many more as we can.

Kerrie,

What a great shot, and just think now you are about to become a mom...very soon.  I thought about yesterday in our Yoga class. There was an expecting lady doing hot Yoga, and she omitted all the laying down on your stomach exercises.  Wishing you a great weekend. A

I haven't checked to see if my tulips are popping up yet.  I'll go do that before I head home today.  They are planted at the office.

I love the photo. I would love to visit Mt Vernon area to see the Tulips some day.

What a gorgeous photo of the two of you immersed in a sea of tulips.  Mt. Vernon may be heads and shoulders above Amsterdam in the tulip department!

Kerrie - That's a delightful picture of you and your mother.  The tulips aren't bad either!

I don't believe I've seen a picture of your mother before!

Kerie, What an amazing picture! We have not seen any spring flowers yet, but they usually arrive late in Western Maryland.

Very nice shot, Kerrie. I didn't realize Seattle has had a warm winter. It has been vary cold here in the East. The Cherry Blossom Festival will almost be over by the time they expect the blossoms this year.

Tulips are so beautiful, but we don't see many of them here along the Gulf coast. Love the picture!

Ha, it almost looks like one of those fake murals that you have dropped behind you when you're in some urban photo studio--too perfect! I must say, you're prettier NOW, missy.

I have always loved daffodils over tulips but they are both so beautiful. We only get to see them for a very, very short time and in pots. They don't grow well here so you never see them anywhere but in the store in a pot.

I went to the Tulip Festival in 2013 and fell in love with tulips all over again!  Love the area although I'm a bit partial to Mount Vernon as I was born there and my parents grew up in Sedro Woolley....    Tulip Festival 2013

Kerrie, on my very first trip to Seattle, I stayed with my brother, Jack, who lived in an adorable bunglow on the water on Samish Island.  And we took a nick long drive to see the tulips!  I've never forgotten how beautiful they are!

Oh, and happy birthday, you!

Hi Kerrie La Guardia , You two sure look happy.  Were you tip toeing through the tulips?  By the Way Happy Birthday Kerrie.

Hi Kerrie,

Wonderful picture of you and your mom in a field of tulips. I fell in love with tulips when I ran my first half marathon in 1991 up in Solvang, CA as the entire race was just hills and hills of tulips in every color imaginable.

Great picture! Tulips are my favorite flower, they herald in spring.

Spring flowers will be especially welcome this year.

We have a very rainy morning in Maryland as we experience spring showers that are taking place as the Cherry Blossoms are getting ready to bloom.

I went to a tulip festival over the weekend with 100,000 tulips. It was breathtakingly beautiful. A blog post is to come soon.
