Kerrie's Blog: Spring MeetUps - Which Week Works Best?

Spring MeetUps - Which Week Works Best?

It's about that time again Rainers!  We need to start thinking about our next round of MeetUps and figure out which week in May will work best for the community.

Not sure what a MeetUp is?  It's an informal get together that any Rainer can host.  Usually a restaurant or bar for happy hour or lunch works best.  Each quarter MeetUps are held bringing about 300 ActiveRain Members together.  There is no agenda and nothing formal, everyone is on their own for food/drink.  It's a great way for us all to get out from behind our computers and hang out with some AMAZING people.

Please fill out the form below and select the week that works best for you.  I know we can't please everyone so majority wins here.

Next week, I'll send out a post with the winning week asking for hosts so we can get the ball rolling.

Do you think we can beat our record of 50 MeetUps?!? I DO!

Hi Kerrie - Hmmm. I'll have to take a look at airfares and see what kind of cheap tickets are out there for meetup crashing :)

That time ALREADY? WHERE is the year rushing off to? I am amazed that it is already time for a MAY Meet-Up!

I can prob. make any of those weeks work.  HOWEVER, the most important thing is that it is OVER A 2 WEEK TIME PERIOD.  Last time did not work as many of us had to limit attendance and attendance was much lower than it should have been.  This is also the time period when more people can travel as it's warmer.

I will host one in White Plains.

BTW, I can't seem to fill out the form, but pls county me in.

Posted by Debbie Gartner, The Flooring Girl & Blog Stylist -Dynamo Marketers (The Flooring Girl) over 3 years ago

Debbie Gartner  we won't be having these during a 2-week time period like you want.  It takes a lot of effort and work so we are sticking to 1-week as usual.

Posted by Kerrie La Guardia, Let it Rain! (ActiveRain, Community Manager) over 3 years ago

You are killing us up her the NorthEast as we have many active groups and it is so difficult to be able to attend several just because they are all cramped into one week

Posted by Ed Silva, Central CT Real Estate Broker Serving all equally (RE/MAX Professionals, CT 203-206-0754 ) over 3 years ago

I'm sorry Ed, we did the 2-week thing once and it was just too much on my end.  I need an assistant or something!!  :)

Posted by Kerrie La Guardia, Let it Rain! (ActiveRain, Community Manager) over 3 years ago

I don't see how extending this for 2 weeks would create any additional work.  That doesn't really make sense to me.  It's just writing dates out and then summarizing afterwards.

Last time was VERY frustrating for MANY of us in the Northeast.  It seems to me that you are trying to increase participation and this would be the way to do it.

Posted by Debbie Gartner, The Flooring Girl & Blog Stylist -Dynamo Marketers (The Flooring Girl) over 3 years ago

No Debbie actually there's a lot more that goes into it.  Scheduling, awarding points, highlighting posts etc.  I'm sorry you don't agree.

I'm hoping for the second week.  If it's between now and the 9th of May I'll have to be a not attendee or host again.  Abigail graduates on the 9th and I have SO much left to do between now and then.  After that I'll be free- er for a while.

Kerrie several of us try to support the area MeetUps, and make it to all or most of them is very hard in a one week period, attendance is starting to go down as a result.

Dick Greenberg you and Mary are welcome to crash one or more of the Connecticut MeetUps, but it would probably be easier if you had a two week time period to choose from :) :) :)

Sure hope we get better participation here in the North Texas area, regardless of which week it is.

Kerrie - we need two weeks in our area!  I could not attend other meet ups,as they had to be scheduled on the same night...    We cannot do weekends - there would be no attendees, and a lot of nights I am still working late on the weekends!   MUST be two weeks!!!!

TWO WEEKS please!

For some reason, my comments disappeared and I am logged out. Hopefully it will work this time.

As you heard from Dagny EasonEd Silva Debbie Gartner and perhaps from Joe Petrowsky - we need to have it spread over two weeks! I host one and plan to attend at least one more by driving more than 100 miles. We are so close to each other, we find an opportunity to meet each other - and as Ed mentioned, it's difficult if we have to do it in a week - however, we can try though prefer little flexibility. I hope you understand.....(can you make it in a spread of 10 days or so - that is from Wednesday of week 1 till Weekend of Week 2?)

OH my, yes to the two weeks!! I definitely haven't been able to make it to new ones as the dates conflict. I agree with those looking for more time. I still think that the missed opportunity is not having a RainCamp, but hey might be cuz i started later than many. Meetups keep AR together like glue. Since we are from so many areas it is a wonderful opportunity to establish relationships and learn from each other. YAY to meet ups, and I hope that I can get to as  many as possible.

Posted by Janis Borgueta, LIC RE Salesperson (Key Properties of the Hudson Valley ) over 3 years ago

Oh boy, I cannot wait! I love these meetups, and hope someone nearby will host one too so we can attend that one.  Hint.  Hint.  Hint.

Posted by Evelyn Johnston, The People You Know, Like and Trust! (Friends & Neighbors Real Estate) over 3 years ago

I wish it was possible to spread it over 2 weeks but it's just not in the books as I need to manually do a lot of stuff to get these going and award points etc.  I definitely don't want to leave anyone hanging before I go on pregnancy leave.

I hope everyone can attend as many MeetUps in the week as possible!

Posted by Kerrie La Guardia, Let it Rain! (ActiveRain, Community Manager) over 3 years ago

Kerrie - I think I'll cancel mine this time.  Hopefully, we can make 2 week work for the summer.

Looking forward to the Spring MeetUp Schedule Kerrie. It sounds like the East Coast has a "high end" problem, too many meeting to chose from!

Maybe there is a demand for MeetUps outside the official week. I know I would attention even without point accumulation. The posts could still be done for all to see and probably even stand out from the crowd a bit.
